The purpose of ICT-ET is to
EXPOSE,
ENGAGE and
ENABLE the private sector involved in Information Technology, Communication Technology and Broadcasting Technology within Ethiopia.
- Quarterly Technology Innovation Series
ICT-ET’s quarterly Technology Innovation Series was established as part of ICT-ET’s efforts to
EXPOSE the Ethiopian ICT community to the leading international high tech companies and for those companies to showcase their products and services. Furthermore, the Technology Innovation Series also allows international companies to be EXPOSED to the ICT community in Ethiopia.
The Technology Innovation Series shall comprise of at least one company from each of the sectors within ICT-ET, namely Information Technology, Communications Technology and Broadcasting Technology per year.
The initial Technology Innovation Series took place at ICT-ET’s launch on January 18, 2011 where Google presented its various services to the private and public sectors in Ethiopia.
- ICT Conferences
ICT-ET’s ICT Conference program is part of ICT-ET’s efforts to
EXPOSE the Ethiopian ICT community to the international ICT conferences which bring together experts from around the world to discuss challenges and opportunities related to ICT. The ICT Conference will also EXPOSE international companies to the ICT sector in Ethiopia.
The ICT Conference shall comprise of at least one event from one of the sectors, namely Information Technology, Communications Technology and Broadcasting Technology per year.
The initial ICT Conference will take place in 2012.
- Diaspora Mentorship Program
ICT-ET’s Diaspora Mentorship Program was established as part of ICT-ET’s efforts to
ENGAGE the Ethiopian Diaspora in ICT.
The Diaspora Mentorship Program will initially be an online service. Ethiopians both in the Diaspora and at home would need to register online. Ethiopians in the Diaspora would enter their areas of expertise within ICT as part of the registration process. Ethiopians in Ethiopia who seek advice or assistance on ICT related matters would then have access to these subject matter experts with whom they can communicate directly.

- Public/ Private Sector Forum
ICT-ET’s Public/ Private Sector Forum was established as part of ICT-ET’s efforts to
ENGAGE the Ethiopian private sector.
The Public/ Private Sector Forum shall consist of drafting policy recommendations and approaching government on the matters affecting each of the sectors within ICT-ET, namely Information Technology, Communication Technology and Broadcasting Technology.
An example of a policy recommendation submitted to the Ethiopian government is the Duty Waiver for wireless devices.

- ICT Park
ICT-ET will assist the ICT Park in attracting foreign and domestic investors as part of ICT-ET’s efforts to ENABLE the Ethiopian ICT sector.
The ICT Park with an initial capital of ETB5 billion is in the process of being constructed on a 200-hectare plot approximately seven KMs from Bole International Airport. The ICT Park shall serve companies engaged in software development, call & data centers and business process outsourcing. It will also have a business incubation program to assist domestic
entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses.
- ICT Innovation Competition
ICT-ET’s ICT Innovation Competition was established as part of ICT-ET’s efforts to
ENABLE the Ethiopian private sector.
The ICT Innovation Competition shall comprise of partnering with leading international companies to sponsor competitions in each of the sectors within ICT-ET, namely Information Technology, Communications Technology and Broadcasting Technology.
The ICT Innovation Competition shall be launched in Q2-2011 with Google for the development of Android Mobile Apps.
- Research and Resources
ICT-ET's Research and Resources section is intended to help ICT-ET’s effort to EXPOSE, ENGAGE and ENABLE the Ethiopian private sector in ICT. Information within Research and Resources are posted at the request of ICT-ET’s Members.
- Survey
ICT-ET’s Survey section is intended to help ICT-ET’s effort to ENGAGE the Ethiopian private sector and to solicit input from stakeholders on a variety of the services that the association provides, as well as to support the different activities described on the other pages of the website. These include Innovation Competition, Public-Private Forum, Diaspora Mentoring, and ICT Conferences.
