Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) have long been recognized by the United Nations as essential tools for socio-economic development. Similarly, Ethiopia recognizes the important and key role that ICT plays for delivering a rich set of Citizen Services that in turn contribute to sustainable development, and make breakthrough progress towards building an Information Society.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with ICT Center of Excellence, ICT-ET, EITPA is organizing a major conference with a theme of “ICT: a Gateway for Growth & Transformation”. This “ICT Ethiopia Conference” 2012 which is scheduled on June 08, 2012 will be held in parallel with the 5th ICT Exhibition, scheduled for June 06 to June 10, 2012, in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

The goal of the conference is to provide an outstanding forum for academic and industrial communities, and ICT related companies that are working and/or doing businesses in applying ICT to development. This conference will bring together practitioners, professionals, academicians, researchers, policy advisors and policy makers in the area of ICT, and provide an interactive forum for them to explore the contributions that ICT can make towards the achievement of sustainable socio-economic development in Ethiopia.

The Conference is soliciting relevant papers that cover and report on: original case studies, researches, new ideas, innovations, work-in-progress, examples of good practices and experiences, and advances in all areas of ICT that help and promote economic development.
